A personal blog about Indian culture, Greek yogurt, café-opening chaos and the life that happens between them.

Why “Two for Joy”?

There’s an old saying I grew up with: where there is love, joy follows.

When I started dreaming up this café, I kept coming back to that line. I didn’t want just another coffee shop. I wanted a place that feels like someone you love made something just for you — a warm cup of masala chai on a busy mall day, a swirl of Greek yogurt soft serve that somehow tastes like a hug.

“Two for Joy” is a play on “two for joy” — like the old rhyme about magpies. One for sorrow, two for joy. I liked the idea that joy multiplies when it’s shared. Bring a friend. Bring your kid. Bring your mom. Everything here is better as a pair.

We’re opening end of October at Chandler Fashion Center, and I can’t wait to welcome you in.

Tasting Our Way to the Opening Menu

Here’s a secret about opening a café: before there’s a menu, there’s a mountain of samples.

This week, we’re tasting our way through Greek yogurt soft serve mixes, frozen yogurt flavors, and masala chai blends from suppliers across the country. Some arrive as little sample bags. Some as concentrates. All of them get the same test: would I proudly serve this to my own family?

The chai has to taste like home — real Assam, real spice, not syrup pretending. The yogurt has to be thick, tangy, and honest. If it doesn’t make me close my eyes and smile, it doesn’t make the menu.

We’re also testing gelato flavors for something special down the road. Let’s just say the machine has arrived, and it’s beautiful.

Opening day is getting closer. Every sample gets us one step nearer to the menu you’ll taste.

Come Work With Us — We’re Hiring Our Opening Team

A café is only as good as its people, and I’m building ours right now.

We’re hiring baristas and café team members for our opening at Chandler Fashion Center (end of October). If you love making beautiful drinks, talking to people, and being part of something brand-new, I want to meet you.

You don’t need years of experience — you need warmth, hustle, and pride in what you serve. We’ll train you on everything else, from pulling the perfect chai to swirling soft serve.

This is a ground-floor opportunity: you’ll help shape the culture of Two for Joy from day one. If that sounds like you, come say hello — we’re interviewing now.
